The ENSV has been engaged in a research dynamic for several years, which has led to the establishment of numerous research areas articulated around CNEPRU-type projects, projects included in the programs of its two research laboratories “Animal Health and Production-SPA” and “Food Hygiene and Quality Assurance System-HASAQ,” and finally, projects related to National Research Programs (PNR).

CNEPRU Projects

The ENSV has several CNEPRU projects (05 approved in January 2010, 07 in January 2011, 02 in January 2013) with themes:

  1. Transformations of aquaculture fish after capture (F04620090001)
  2. Parasitological aspects of some vertebrates (F04620090002).
  3. The dairy sector in Algeria: factors influencing milk production, quantitative, qualitative, and economic aspects (F04620090003).
  4. Study of the risks of Brucella spp. transmission during embryo transfer in cows (F04620090004).
  5. Study of mastitis in dairy cows and milk quality in the Algiers region (I04620090005).
  6. Study of factors influencing the growth, reproduction, and health status of the local rabbit population (Oryctolagus cuniculus) (F04620100012).
  7. Evaluation of food risks and harmonization of the control of animal-derived foodstuffs (F04620100001).
  8. Evaluation of the effectiveness of veterinary vaccines used in Algeria and development of innovative recombinant vaccination strategies (I04620100005).
  9. Research on antibiotic residues in white meat from broiler chickens in the Tizi Ouzou province (F04620100011).
  10. Study of the prevalence of bacteria and parasites transmitted by hematophagous arthropods in dogs in the Algiers region (I04620100007).
  11. Identification and characterization of “hazards” in the meat and meat product production chain in accordance with the HACCP method and study of their impact on human health (I04620100002).
  12. Study of factors influencing poultry farming productivity: technical and sanitary aspects (F04620100008).

PNR projects

Within the framework of the National Research Programs (PNR), 8 projects were attached and domiciled at the “Animal Health and Production” Research Laboratory of ENSV.

The research topics addressed by the PNR:

  1. Improvement of poultry farm productivity during periods of heat: zootechnical and health aspects.
  2. Impact of ambient heat on the production performance and health status of locally bred rabbits: development of control measures.
  3. The main parasitic zoonoses in Algeria and their impact on public health.
  4. Evaluation of the effectiveness and optimization of an anti-sheep pox vaccine produced in Algeria.
  5. Diagnosis and epidemiological surveillance of abortions of infectious origin in cows in the Algiers region.
  6. Dairy sector: Improving the productivity of dairy cattle farms in the central region of Algeria.
  7. Identification and characterization of “hazards” in the meat and meat product production chain in accordance with the HACCP method and study of their impact on human health.
  8. Development and application of embryo transfer for the preservation and genetic improvement of the local cow.
